I’m not sure what to say about Plancation not being held this year other than I miss you all tremendously.
Putting on this event each year is stressful. There’s a lot of components that have to come together to pull this thing off. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve enjoyed the break. I’ve liked not being deep into conference details while COVID-19 is raging, and the human rights movement has been happening. I’m fascinated by the news, opinions, and the reactions too. I’m present in this moment as our country is being challenged to face so many things.
Today I’m sitting here on my computer, all alone surrounded by planner stuff. I see you all out there on Facebook and Instagram and I know you all are doing ok for the most part. You’ve brought a tear to my eye this week as you’ve tagged Plancation and me personally in your memories. As you know Plancation and the community built around it fills my heart each year and the information, relationships, and connection has carried me from year to year since we started doing it.
I’m not sure when is the appropriate time for us to all be here together again. I’m not sure what planner you will be using. I have no idea what topics will be relevant to our collective creative planning journeys at that time.
I do know all of you will continue to use your planners. All of you will continue to search for ways to be creative. I’m confident that each of you are learning new things, and teaching others along the way. You will be longing for the next time we get to hug one another face to face, and laugh / cry together.
During this time that we are apart I want to encourage you to find ways to be creative with the products you love while processing these current events. Try not to be too hard on yourself when reflecting as none of our plans for the year are coming together as anticipated. Check in on the friends you’ve made at past events and keep those connections going.
When it is time I’ll be the first in line to hug all you huggers, and salute all you non huggers. Again, I miss your energy and creativity packed into 1 room for 3 days.
See you soon.
